Chemical and biomolecular engineering is concerned with design, and operation of commercial processes that convert chemicals or bio-materials into more useful or valuable forms. Recently, we also contribute to new areas such as renewable energy to solve the depletion of fossil fuels, sustainable clean processes to reduce climate change, new materials and biotechnology. In the future, chemical and biomolecular engineering will play an important role in developing not only conventional industries, e.g. plant engineering, petrochemistry, fine chemistry and plastics, but also other numerous industries, e.g. textile, semiconductors, automobiles, energy, environment, and clean technology.

Objectives of education
- Improvement of the capability to apply the fundamental knowledge including math, physics, and chemistry to the chemical engineering field.
- Industrial fields require engineers to possess solid engineering backgrounds for various applications. Therefore, the chemical engineering program leads students to study knowledge of science and engineering in an organized frame, and the program also provides students with the opportunity for applied practice.
- Development of the capability for creative designs and work to make a breakthrough in novel technology.
- With rapid technology revolution, engineers have been asked to create optimal and creative solutions. In the chemical engineering program, design problems are given to students who will eventually be able to keep a firm and creative grip on the chemical engineering profession.
- Building of upright character and leadership with responsibility and perspectives on ethics, engineering, and society.
- After education through the chemical engineering program, students may recognize the role of chemical engineers for social evolution and human welfare in the world. Furthermore, based on this recognition, students are capable of taking leadership positions with responsibility and perspectives on ethics, engineering, and society in various areas.
- Advancement of communication skills and information use for our era oriented with globalization and information.
- Communication and information are tremendously essential for activity all around the world, insight into the globalized trends, analysis of our rapidly evolving society, and lifelong learning. Students get experienced in communications with applications of information, through the design courses in the chemical engineering program, and are required to achieve excellence in foreign-language proficiency. The program produces prominent professionals, who are capable of both communication and using information.
